MDOQ is a tool which originated (like many) as a black-box, in-house agency tool, which was born within ZERO-1 at a time when Magento 2.0 was released and everyone felt the pains of adopting a new platform and the need to maintain some parity of production costs for merchants. 

Professional Books switched to MDOQ in Autumn of 2023. They simply weren't receiving the performance or service expected from their previous hosting provider and weren't happy with the sluggish frequency of releases.
